ATHENS, Ohio - Three members of the Ohio University field hockey team were named Academic All-MAC for their superb efforts on the court and in the classroom during the 2013 season.

Senior Luli Gomez Teruel (Salta, Argentina), junior Caelyn Hartley (Escondido, Calif.) and sophomore Clarissa Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio) were selected to the Academic All-MAC team, while an additional five Bobcats were named honorable mention.

The quintet includes seniors Katherine Fenzel (Louisville, Ky.) and Riley Higgins (Louisville, Ky.) and juniors Ashley Cureton (Henrico, Va.), Kristine Gegas (Worthington, Ohio) and Danielle Rissmiller (Lancaster, Pa.).

To earn a spot on the Academic All-MAC Team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

ACADEMIC ALL-MAC SELECTIONS

Luli Gomez Teruel | Senior | 3.571 | Acting/Production Design
NFHCA All-Region Second Team...MAC Player of the Year...First Team All-MAC... Two-time MAC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 10, Oct. 15)... Led the MAC in goals (11) and goals per game (0.65) and was second in the conference in points (25) and points per game (1.47)...Also ranked third in the MAC in shots per game (2.47) and led the Bobcats in total shots (42)...Posted the game-winning goal for Ohio in the Bobcats' 1-0 win over Miami on Oct. 23...Registered multiple goals in four contests on the year.

Caelyn Hartley | Junior | 3.907 | Communications Studies/Sales
Started all 17 games for the Bobcats in 2013...Notched four points on a goal and two assists...Five of her nine shots were on goal (.556)...Notched the assist on Ohio's game-winning goal at Missouri State on Oct. 11...Season high three shots vs. Towson on Sept. 28...Posted a goal and an assist at Saint Louis on Oct. 13... Played in 921 of a possible 1242 minutes on the season.

Clarissa Leickly | Sophomore | 3.872 | Exercise Science
Saw action in all 17 matches while starting four...Tallied an assist at Robert Morris on Sept. 29...Took six shots, three of which were on goal (.500)...Saw action in 429 total minutes for Ohio.

ACADEMIC ALL-MAC HONORABLE MENTION

Ashley Cureton | Junior | 3.484 | Management and Strategic Leadership
Saw action in 15 matches and made one start on the year...Posted a goal at Robert Morris on Sept. 29...Seven of her nine shots were on goal (.779)...Sparked the Ohio forward line with aggressive play throughout the season.

Katherine Fenzel | Senior | 3.550 | Communication Sciences & Disorders
Started all 17 games for the Bobcats in 2013...Served as team captain during the 2013 campaign...Notched five points on two goals and an assist...Posted the game-winning goal vs. Saint Louis on Oct. 13...Also notched a goal at No. 16 Boston University on Aug. 31 and added an assist in a 2-1 win over William & Mary on Sept. 7...Played 1045 of a possible 1242 minutes during the season.

Kristine Gegas | Junior | 3.231 | Pre-Exercise Physiology
Saw action in all 17 matches and started six contests...Played 474 minutes on the season...Took nine shots on the year, three of which were on goal.

Riley Higgins | Senior | 3.293 | Communications Studies
Started 15 of the 16 games she played in 2013...Served as Ohio's primary leader in the defensive zone throughout the season...Played 950 total minutes during the season...Also posted one assist on the year vs. Saint Louis on Oct. 13...Missed final game of season due to injury.

Danielle Rissmiller | Junior | 3.569 | Nursing/Psychology
Saw action in 15-of-17 matches on the year...Took three shots, one of which was on goal...Played 196 total minutes for the Bobcats.
