ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University head field hockey coach Neil Macmillan has announced the signing of Andrea Biegalski for the 2009-10 school year. Biegalski will enroll at Ohio this spring to begin training with the team and will then compete for the Bobcats beginning with the 2009 season in the fall, along with the rest of Ohio's 2009 incoming class, which will be released in the near future.

"Andrea is extremely excited to come to Ohio. She's very much looking forward to this next step in her career," Macmillan said. "She's a player who has the talent and versatility to play anywhere on the field, but primarily plays the midfield. She is a determined player who has very good skills and will certainly contribute to this program during her time at Ohio."

Collegeville, Pa. - Perkiomen Valley HS

Biegalski, a native of Collegeville, Pa., is a center midfielder from Perkiomen Valley High School, where she was a three-year letterwinner and starter. Playing under head coach Karen Moliver, Biegalski was a three-time First Team All-Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC 10) selection, while being named First Team All-Pennsylvania in 2007. She was also named first team all area and the team's MVP from 2005-2007, while leading Perkiomen Valley in assists all three seasons.

Biegalski led her team to the 2007 PAC 10 championship, while helping the team finish second in the conference in 2005 and 2006, when they team finished third and fourth at districts, respectively. She earned three varsity letters playing for the Vikings.

Biegalski has also played on the club team X-Calibur Freedom, under coach Amy Ott, in addition to her high school team. During her time with the Freedom, Biegalski has helped the team win gold at the 2005 Big Apple Hockey Festival and National Hockey Festival (pool D) and the 2006 National Hockey Festival in pool C. X-Calibur was also champions of pool A at the 2005 Field Hockey National Indoor Tournament and runner up in 2006 (pool A) and 2007 (pool B). She was a Futures Elite selection from 2003-2005, winning the National Futures Tournament in 2005, and a Junior Olympics selection in 2005, where her team captured the gold.

Biegalski was born Sep. 2, 1990 to Russell and Natalie Biegalski. She has an older sister, Julia, and a younger brother, Harry.

Biegalski and the Bobcats are scheduled to begin their 2009 season Friday, August 28 against defending national champion Maryland in Evanston, Ill.
