Caelyn Hartley was named a Scholar of Distinction for the second-straight year.

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University Field Hockey program received a 2013 National Academic Team Award, placed nine student-athletes on the 2013 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division One National Academic Squad and earned one Scholars of Distinction award, as announced by the NFHCA this week.
Seniors Katherine Fenzel (Louisville, Ky.), Luli Gomez Teruel (Salta, Argentina) and Riley Higgins (Louisville, Ky.) were joined by juniors Ashley Cureton (Henrico, Va.), Caelyn Hartley (Escondido, Calif.) and Danielle Rissmiller (Lancaster, Pa.), sophomore Clarissa Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio) and freshman Hannah Kingsbury (Louisville, Ky.) on the National Academic Squad.
The National Academic Team Award goes to any program that attains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, the National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and the Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
Fenzel is a four-year recipient of the National Academic Squad award, while Caelyn Hartley was named to her second consecutive Scholars of Distinction team.
In addition to the NFHCA recognition, Gomez Teruel, Hartley and Leickly earned Academic All-MAC honors earlier this season.
