ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio University field hockey senior Luli Gomez Teruel has been named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Gomez Teruel posted a team-high six points on three goals to lead the Bobcats to a 1-1 record this past weekend. The Salta, Argentina, native also paced the ‘Cats with five shots, three of which were on goal (.600). Gomez Teruel posted her first goal of the weekend in the 2-1 victory over William & Mary, then notched a team-high two goals at Louisville on Sunday.
“Luli had an exceptional game against Louisville,” head coach Neil Macmillan said. “She used a great opportunity on her first goal to pop up on the end of a corner and put in a shot that was heading wide. Then, she scored off a penalty stroke later on for her second goal. She had a great weekend, as her goal on Saturday was very well taken off a nice unselfish feed from Katherine Fenzel.”
This season, Gomez Teruel leads the MAC in points (10), points per game (2.50), goals (5) and goals per game (1.25).
The Bobcats return to action this weekend with two matches in Evanston, Ill. The ‘Cats play Cal on Saturday at 2 p.m. before facing off against No. 12 Northwestern Sunday at 1 p.m.
