ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio goalkeeper Brittany Walker was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league offices today. Walker joins Taylor Brown and Luli Gomez Teruel as Bobcats to earn a league honor this season.
This is the first weekly award for Walker as the sophomore allowed only one goal in 170 minutes of action this past week in contests with Ohio State and Robert Morris.
Walker had eight saves in the contest with the Buckeyes and stopped two tries during the shootout. She leads the league with a 1.53 goals against average and is second in the MAC with a .745 save percentage.
Another important weekend awaits for the Bobcats as they open the MAC slate on Friday afternoon with a rematch of last year's conference championship game at Kent State. Ohio returns home for a non-conference matchup against No. 10 Northwestern on Sunday at noon.
