ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio goalkeeper Brittany Walker was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league offices today for the second time this season.
Walker earned her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over St. Joe’s. She now leads the league in that category and goals against average (1.87). She also ranks second in the league with a .746 save percentage.
The sophomore was named Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago after allowing only one goal in 170 minutes of action in contests with Ohio State and Robert Morris. Walker had eight saves in the contest with the Buckeyes and stopped two tries during the shootout.
Ohio has a demanding week in front of it with a game at No. 15 Wake Forest starting the string. The 'Cats are back in action on Saturday at home against Ball State. They conclude a five-day stretch with a contest against No. 20 Michigan State at Pruitt Field on Sunday.
