“Getting To Know The @OhioFieldHockey Team” is a series where each player is asked 10 questions about themselves. The questions range from personal interests to background information about each player. Today’s featured player is junior Maria Russell (Hudson, Ohio).

Where are you from? Was field hockey big in your hometown?
I’m from Cleveland, Ohio. Hudson to be more specific. It was pretty big in my area, but that was really it. It was only 20 minute drives for matches.

What is your favorite thing about Athens?

How small it is and the college campus feel of it.

What is the best part about being a member of the Bobcats?
The Bobcat family we are a part of. I can always count on the alumni coming in, we all stay in touch and have a great time.

What is your hidden talent?

My hidden talent is that I can draw the Cat in the Hat.

What is your favorite band?
I like The Chainsmokers. They get me pumped up.

What artist or type of music do you listen to get pumped up for a match?
I like “Closer” (The Chainsmokers), but I also like to listen to “Let You Go” by them too.

What is your favorite food?
Pasta, I love pasta. I’m Italian.

What is your favorite sport other than field hockey?

I love lacrosse.

What is your favorite hobby?

I like to ride my bike.

What is your major? What do you plan to do after college?
I’m an early childhood major and I’m hoping to be a third grade teacher when I graduate.
