'Cats and Cardinals Compete In Muncie Saturday

Walker has notched a pair of shutouts this season.

ATHENS, Ohio -
The Ohio University field hockey team (6-8, 2-0 MAC) travels to Muncie, Ind. this weekend for a key league match against MAC opponent Ball State (5-10, 0-3 MAC). The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at BSU's Briner Sports Complex.

Last Time Out
The Bobcats enter the matchup with a 6-8 record after defeating MAC rival Miami in a crucial 1-0 victory on Wednesday, Oct. 23. With the win, Ohio grabbed its first home victory of the season and improved to 9-6 versus Miami over the past 15 meetings in the "Battle of the Bricks" series. The Green & White have won now three of their past four contests.

MAC Standings Update
With the win over Miami, the Bobcats are now 2-1 in the MAC and have moved into a tie for second place in the league standings. Ohio is 51-18 in league contests since 2006.

Walker Shutsout RedHawks
Senior goalkeeper Brittany Walker (Elizabethtown, Pa.) is among the MAC leaders in a number of defensive categories. She played well against Miami on Wednesday, making three saves while helping to lead Ohio to the shutout victory. She ranks fourth in the league in saves (59), save percentage (.656) and goals against average (2.27). Walker has logged nearly 1,000 minutes in goal and has notched two shutouts on the year.

Luli Leads the MAC
Senior Luli Gomez Teruel (Salta, Argentina) currently leads the MAC in four offensive categories - points (24), points per game (1.71), goals (11) and goals per game (0.79). She is also ranked third in shots per game (2.29) and fourth in shots (32). She is a two-time MAC Offensive Player of the Week this season.

Defensive Improvements
Ohio has allowed just 1.40 goals per game over its past five contests, well below the team's season average of 2.43. Ohio now ranks third in the MAC in goals against average. The Bobcats have posted a 3-2 record during the five-match defensive stretch.

Scouting the Cardinals (5-10, 0-3)
Ball State enters the weekend looking to rebound from a 2-1 loss against Ohio State last week. The Cardinals are currently winless in MAC play (0-3), with setbacks to Kent State, Central Michigan, and Miami. Lexi Kavanaugh leads the Cardinals with seven goals and 14 points, along with Tarel Teach who accounts for 10 of the team's total points. Ohio holds a 34-33 record all-time against Ball State. The Bobcats have defeated the Cardinals in the last three matchups, outscoring them by a combined score of 17-2.
