ATHENS, Ohio - Five Ohio Field Hockey players earned All-MAC honors this afternoon prior to the start of the league tournament. Seniors Cathryn Altdoerffer and Taylor Brown earned First Team honors while seniors Marissa Higgins and Laura Mastro were joined by junior Jessica Jue on the second team.

Brown became the first three-time MAC First Team selection since Rachelle Coetzee ('08) and only the third Bobcat to ever accomplish the feat. A two-time NFHCA Division I All-West Region honoree, Brown is second in the MAC with 30 points, 11 goals and eight assists. She also leads the league with four game-winning goals. She currently sits third all-time in the Ohio record book with 42 career goals and fourth all-time with 99 points.

Altdoerffer earned All-MAC honors for a third time as well, making the First Team for a second year in a row. Just yesterday she was selected to the 2012 NFHCA Senior Game, the only MAC player to be chosen. During MAC play, Altdoerffer ranked third in assists and fifth in points.

Jue earned All-MAC honors for a second year in a row after finishing second in the MAC during the regular season in assists. She currently holds the Ohio single-season record for assists and was one of four Bobcats to earn a MAC Player of the Week award this year.

Mastro, who finished with 15 assists last year, was one of three Bobcats named to the second team. This season, she led the league with five assists during conference play. A three-time NFHCA Scholar Athlete, Mastro's 25 career assists currently rank 3rd all-time in program history

Higgins has been an integral part to the Ohio lineup these past two seasons, playing in every game during last year's championship run as well as this year. A NFHCA National Academic Squad selection, she was one of the league leaders in defensive saves this year.

Ohio plays Miami tomorrow in the semifinals of the MAC Tournament at noon. The winner of that game advances to Saturday's final at 1 p.m. and will play wither Central Michigan or Kent State.
