ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio University field hockey senior Jessica Jue has been named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
It marks the first time this season and second time in her career that Jue has earned the honor. The Vancouver, British Columbia, native also earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors during the 2011 season.
Jue scored one of the most important goals of the season Saturday for Ohio, tallying the game-winner in double-overtime over previously unbeaten Kent State. The goal clinched a spot in the MAC Championship for the Bobcats and gave Ohio a 3-2 victory on Senior Day.
Jue struck with 12:33 remaining in the game’s second overtime, after taking a pass from fellow senior Luli Gomez Teruel and rifling a shot into the back of the cage. Jue notched three total shots in the contest against the Golden Flashes.
Ohio next competes in the 2013 MAC Tournament scheduled for this weekend in Oxford, Ohio. The No. 2-seeded Bobcats play No. 3 Miami on Friday (Nov. 8) at 2 p.m. With a victory, the Green & White will advance to the MAC Championship game Saturday at 2 p.m.
