Nov. 17, 2011
ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio's Louzeth Schutte, Taylor Brown and Jessica Jue were all named 2011 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-West Region earlier today. Schutte earned first-team honors, while Brown and Jue were placed on the second team.
Schutte becomes the ninth Bobcat in program history to receive first-team honors and first since Marcy Dull in 2009. The senior from South Africa was named the Mid-American Conference's MVP following her dominant season, leading the Bobcats to their seventh regular season title. She was part of a defense that only allowed 15 goals during the 2011 regular season.
Brown became the sixth Bobcat to be honored multiple times after being placed on the second team last season. The junior from Elkton, Maryland was named First Team All-MAC after leading Ohio with 16 goals. Jue was also a First Team All-MAC pick and finished second in the MAC with 38 points. She ranked 15th nationally with 18 assists, a total that set a new school record.
Ohio Field Hockey has now had a representative on a NFHCA All-Region Team for the past 12 years. The three players honored this year tied the number selected from the 2001 and 2007 teams, both NCAA Tournament qualifiers as well.
