Rio Verde Round One Get Acrobat Reader

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Ohio University Women’s Golf Team finished its first round of play at the 2013 Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. Through one day of action, the Bobcats currently sit in 16th place with a team score of 318.

Northern Arizona holds the top spot after one round of play, shooting a team score of 288. Eastern Michigan is not far behind, residing in second place with a team score of 295. Ball State and Toledo are tied for third with scores of 300.

Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats on Saturday, shooting a 74 to end the day tied for 11th. Her score of 74 strokes was just one higher than the lowest round of her career.

Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) and Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) finished next for the Bobcats, ending the day tied for 72nd with first-round scores of 81. Angela Codian (Massilon, Ohio) and Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) rounded out Ohio’s first day of competition with scores of 82 and 83, respectively. Codian ended the day tied for 77th while Tranelli finished Saturday’s round tied for 81st.

In the individual competition, freshman Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) ended the day tied for 84th with a score of 84.

Sunday’s final round of competition will begin at 10 a.m. EST.
