Ohio's Angela Codian tied for fifth in the field of 82 golfers with nine total birdies

OCALA, Fla. - The Ohio University Women's Golf Team completed play at the 2013 MSU Ocala Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Ohio placed 13th at the competition, shooting a three-round team score of 949.
Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) led the way for the Green and White, shooting a career-best score of 225 strokes throughout the course of three days. Brinkmann finished tied for 13th in the field of 82 golfers, marking the sixth time in her career she has finished in the top 20 of a tournament field.
Mercer University earned first place at the tournament, shooting a three-round score of 883. Stetson University took second with a score of 890 and Toledo earned third in 893 strokes. Host Morehead State finished fourth with a 900.
Ohio finished one stroke ahead of Mid-American Conference rival Akron in the field of 14 teams.
Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) was Ohio's second finisher at the tournament, tying for 22nd with a three-round score of 229. The freshman went 76-75-78 through the three rounds of play. Codian tied for fifth among the 82 golfers in terms of total birdies recorded, as the freshman earned nine.
Rounding things out for Ohio were Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio), Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio), and Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.). Lechner tied for 74th with a three-round score of 249 while Helmsdoerfer and Tranelli tied for 79th with scores of 253.
The Bobcats will next be in action at the Eastern Kentucky University Lady Colonel Classic on April 5 and 6.
