Ocala Final Scores Get Acrobat Reader

DUNNELLON, Fla. – Ohio Women’s Golf finished its participation at the 2012 MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on Tuesday, placing ninth with a team score of 948. The Bobcats shot a team score of 323 on the final day at the Juliette Falls Golf Course in Dunnelleon, Florida.

Stetson University claimed the team title, narrowly edging host Morehead State and Appalachian State. The Hatters shot a team score of 880 through the three rounds of competition and also claimed the tournament’s individual champion thanks to Alex Buelow’s six-under-par score of 210.

Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) shot Ohio’s best score of the tournament, both overall and on the third day of competition. The senior shot a 78 on Tuesday and ended the tournament with a final score of 233 to finish 27th overall. Not far behind her was sophomore Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) who shot a final-round 81 and ended with a 235. Her score of 235 and 29th-place finish are both career bests.

Remaining very consistent throughout the tournament, Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) tied for 36th with a total score of 240. The sophomore shot scores of 79, 80 and 81 through her three rounds of play.

Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio) and Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) rounded out Ohio’s participation in the tournament, finishing 41st and 50th, respectively. Weaver shot 81-79-83 to finish with a 243 while Lechner carded 88-77-85 to end up with a 250. Lechner’s score of 77 on Monday was a career best.

The Bobcats will next be in action on March 23 at the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Florida.
