OCALA, Fla. - The Ohio University women's golf team is tied for ninth place following a 306 (+18) combined team score in first-round action of the 2014 Morehead State University Ocala Spring Invitational on Sunday (March 23) at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
Ohio's 306 tied its fourth-best combined-team total this season.
Freshman Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) tallied a 73 (+1), slotting her in a tie for fifth place. Hrynewich's round marked her best 18-hole score of the spring and is just one stroke shy of her career-best at Ohio.
Sophomore Angela Codian (Massilon, Ohio) narrowly trails her teammate following a 74 (+2) showing. Codian's mark was good enough to give her sole possession of 14th place. She has now compiled a round-score of 74 or lower in three of her last six rounds.
Senior Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) put forth a 78 (+6) performance to tie for 44th place. The senior has not exceeded 80 or higher in a round this spring.
Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) and junior Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) knotted scores of 81 (+9) and 82 (+10) in their first rounds to give them shares of 71st and 75th place, respectively.
Second round action is set to tee-off at 8 a.m. ET on Monday (March 24).
