OCALA, Fla. - Ohio University freshman women's golfer Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) fired a final-round 73 to total a school-record 218 (+2) and take third place, helping the Bobcats place 10th on Tuesday (March 25) at the 2014 Morehead State University Ocala Spring Invitational at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
As a team, the 'Cats carded a 306 in the third round to bring their final total to 920 (+56) - the third-best 54-hole total in school history.
Hrnewich's third-place finish marked the best of her young career and the best for an Ohio golfer since then-freshman Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) placed second at the Dayton Fall Invitational in 2012.
Senior Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) finished in a tie for 25th after carding a career-low 73 in the final round, giving her a 230 (+14).
Codian tied for 47th after carding an 82 in the third round - bringing the sophomore's total to 235 (+19).
Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) posted an 82 in the final round, tying her for 65th with a 241 (+25).
Junior Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) tied for 69th after shooting a 78 in the final round. She finished with a 242 (+26).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the 2014 Lady Colonel Classic, held April 4-5 in Richmond, Ky.
