2012 Falcon Invite Day One 
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Ohio Women’s Golf completed the first day of competition at the 2012 Falcon Invitational on Saturday. Through one full round of play, the Bobcats are in fourth place.
Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) led the way for the Green and White, shooting an impressive 73 during the first round. She is currently tied for first place in the field of 75 golfers.
Ohio shot 320 as a team through the first round, only ten strokes off the lead. Oakland holds the top team spot at the end of the first day, shooting 310 on Saturday. The Bobcats finished the day ahead of Mid-American Conference foes Bowling Green (T-5th) and Northern Illinois (9th).
All five of Ohio’s golfers finished within the top 60 percent of the field, as no Bobcat ended the day worse off than 45th. Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) and Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) are currently each tied for 28th, as both of these student-athletes shot scores of 82 on the first day. Brinkmann dropped two strokes from her front-nine score of 42 while Tranelli remained constant throughout the day, shooting a 41 on both the front and back nine.
Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio) and Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) rounded out Ohio’s competition in the first round, finishing tied for 37th and 45th, respectively. Weaver went 43-40 to shoot an 83 while Helmsdoerfer carded 43-42 to end with an 85.
The Bobcats will begin the second day of competition at the Falcon Invitational on Sunday morning.
