BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Ohio Women’s Golf earned its best finish of the 2012 spring season this weekend, placing third at the Falcon Invitational. Senior Megan Weaver played a terrific tournament, finishing second place in the field.

Ohio shot a 320 on Saturday and a 319 on Sunday, ending the two-round competition with a team score of 639. The Bobcats finished only three strokes out of second place and 13 total shots off the lead. Indianapolis University earned top honors at the tournament, shooting 314-312 to end with a 626.

The Bobcats bested Mid-American Conference foes Bowling Green (T-5th) and Northern Illinois (7th) at the competition. Sunday’s third-place finish was the best team result achieved since the 2010 Falcon Invitational, during which the Green and White also finished third.

Weaver (Canton, Ohio) finished only one stroke off the first-place finisher, Darin Pinnick of Indianapolis. The second-place finish ties the best of her career and is the seventh time that she has finished within the top five at a tournament.

Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) shaved four strokes off her first-round 82, shooting a 78 on Sunday to end with a score of 160. The sophomore tied for 13th, marking the sixth time she has finished within the top 20 in her Bobcat career.

In the middle of the field, Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio) and Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) shot two-round scores of 166 and 167, ending the tournament tied for 35th and 37th, respectively.

Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) rounded out Ohio’s participation in the tournament, finishing tied for 44th with a two-round score of 169.

The Bobcats will stay in Bowling Green for one more day to take on the Falcons in a match-play event on Monday.
