FISHERS, Ind. - The Ohio University women's golf team gained sole possession of sixth place in the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday (April 26) at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club after compiling a 309 (+21) combined-team score in the second round to arrive at a 36-hole mark of 627 (+51).
Ohio's second-round score bested its first-round mark by nine strokes.
Freshman Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) dealt a team-high three birdies en route to a 74 (+2) to earn sole possession of third place. The rookie's 147 (+3) 36-hole mark is just two strokes shy of Eastern Michigan sophomore Karyn Lee Ping's tournament-best two-round mark (145; +1).
Sophomore Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) fired a 72 (E) to launch her from 36th place into 18th with a two-round total of 156 (+12). Codian's second-round performance was the second-best round-two score in the field.
Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) carded an 83 (+11) to arrive at 161 (+17) 36-hole total. She currently rests in a tie for 30th place.
Junior Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) cut four strokes off her first-round score tallying an 80 (+8) to pull her into 37th place with a 164 (+20) two-round score.
Senior Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) struck an 83 (+11) to finish the day with a 166 (+22) 36-hole total. She currently sits in a tie for 39th place.
The Bobcats are set to tee-off final-round action at 8:50 a.m. ET on Sunday (April 27).
