2012 MAC Day Two
FISHERS, Ind. - Ohio Women's Golf completed the second day of competition at the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday. Through two rounds of play, the Bobcats are in seventh place with a team score of 663.
The Bobcats shot a team score of 334 on the first day of competition before carding a 329 on Saturday.
Kent State holds the top spot at the tournament, carding a two-round team score of 608. Toledo is not far behind, having shot a two-round score of 613 to this point.
Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats for the second straight day, carding a team-low 79. The sophomore has shot two of Ohio's three top rounds at this year's Championships. With her two-round score of 160, Brinkmann is currently in 21st place.
Shooting Ohio's second-lowest score of the day was senior Megan Weaver. The Canton, Ohio native improved three strokes from her first-round 83 and currently finds herself tied for 27th place.
Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio) were Ohio's next two finishers on Saturday, ending the day tied for 37th and 39th, respectively. Helmsdoerfer improved one stroke to shoot an 84 while Weaver added two shots to her first-round 85.
Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) made an impressive improvement from the first to the second round, dropping four strokes to shoot an 86. She is currently in 43rd place.
The Bobcats will next be in action Sunday morning to conclude the 2012 MAC Championships. Ohio golfers will tee off from 8:30 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.
