Day One Results
NORMAL, Ill. - The Ohio University women's golf team completed two rounds of competition at the Redbird Invitational on Sunday and currently sits seventh in the 14-team field with a team score of 612 (311-301, +36) thru 36 holes.
Defending Redbird Invitational champion and MAC counterpart Toledo leads the field with a team score of 592 (297-295). Individually, Bowling Green's Lily Bartell paces the tournament, finishing the day at four-under par with a 140 (69-71).
Sophomore Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) led the `Cats, shooting 76-73 to tie her for 14th place at 149 (+5). Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) shot a two-round career best for the `Cats, finishing 75-78 to net her a 153 (+9) and a tie for 24th place.
Sophomore Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) matched Codian's team-best single round score in the second round, shooting 81-73 to put her at a 154 (+10). McKinzie's eight stroke improvement in the second round was second-best among the 86 players in the field.
In her Bobcat debut freshman Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) tallied a 156 with round scores of 79-77 (+12). Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) rounded out the Bobcats, shooting 83-82 for a 165 (+21).
Ohio showed its experience by improving its first day total from last year's Redbird Invitational (642) by 30 strokes. The Bobcats' two-round score of 612 also is the seventh-best in program history.
The Bobcats compete in the third and final round of the Redbird Invitational at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
