UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Ohio Women’s Golf completed the second day of play at the 2012 Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday. The Bobcats shot a team score of 323 during the second round and are currently in 16th place.
Host Penn State retains the overall lead, having dropped nine strokes from its first-round 292 to shoot a 283 on Saturday. The Nittany Lions have shot 575 through two rounds of play. Old Dominion remains in second place, having shot a two-round score of 595.
Freshman Angela Codian (Massilon, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats for the second straight day, shooting a team-low score of 75. Codian recorded one birdie and 13 pars on the second day of competition. She is currently tied for 11th place with a two-round score of 148.
Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) and Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) currently rank second and third for the Bobcats, as each of these student-athletes is tied for 77th place. Brinkmann shot a mirror image of her Friday score of 82 while McKinzie added four strokes from Friday to shoot an 84. Both of these Bobcats are sitting on two-round scores of 164.
Rounding out Ohio’s final three places on Saturday were Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio), Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) and Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio). Helmsdoerfer (T85th) and Tranelli (T94th) dropped a combined seven strokes from their Friday scores and are sitting at 168 and 173, respectively, through two rounds. Lechner is currently tied for 98th and has shot a two-round score of 174.
