NASHPORT, Ohio – Ohio Women’s Golf completed the first day of competition at the 2012 Fall Preview on Monday afternoon. Following one round of play, the Bobcats are currently tied for 10th place.
Akron leads the way after the first day with a team score of 314. Bowling Green and Ball State are not far behind, having carded team scores of 315.
Hanna Ek of Akron currently holds the top individual spot in the tournament, having shot a 71 on the first day of play.
Angela Codian (Massilon, Ohio) recorded Ohio’s best score of the day with her 81. She is currently tied for 27th place. Codian shot two birdies and six pars in the first round of play.
Just behind her were Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio). Each of these student-athletes shot an 82 on Monday and is currently tied for 31st place.
Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) and Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) were the next two finishers for Ohio, ending the day with scores of 84 and 87, respectively. Tranelli is tied for 49th while McKinzie is tied for 71st.
In individual action, Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) and Lauren Volz (Huron, Ohio) represented the Bobcats on Monday. Lechner finished tied for 40th with an 83 while Volz ended tied for 49th after shooting an 84.
The Bobcats will next be in action on Tuesday at the Fall Preview. Golfing will commence with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
