AKRON, Ohio - Ohio Women's Golf concluded its fall season on Tuesday, earning a fourth-place finish at the 2011 Zippy Invitational. The Bobcats finished with a score of 643 through two rounds, ending just five strokes out of third place. Much of this was due to the success of Megan and Meryl Weaver, who finished second and 12th at the tournament, respectively.

Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats, posting a two-round 147 to finish only five over par. The senior shot a 73 in the first round, a score which tied for the best round of the tournament's first day. She kept up her consistent pace throughout the second round, shooting a three-over 74 to solidify her second-place finish. Weaver finished only two strokes behind Katie Jenior--the tournament's individual winner--who carded 145 through the two rounds of play.

The theme of day two for Ohio was improvement. Three of the five Bobcat golfers improved their scores when playing the course for the second time. None of them improved as dramatically as Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio), who shot a tournament-best 71 on day two after shooting an 88 on the first day of competition.

Weaver's 17-stroke improvement between rounds one and two was surpassed only by Youngstown State's Angela Molaskey, who shot 105-80, improving by 25 strokes from the first to second round.

Sarah Tranelli (Pensfield, N.Y.), Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) rounded out Ohio's participation in the tournament, finishing with total scores of 162, 175 and 176, respectively. Brinkmann improved significantly from round one to round two, cutting four strokes off her first score to card an 86.
