ATHENS, Ohio – Megan Weaver of Ohio Women’s Golf has been named a Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.
Weaver (Canton, Ohio) had a terrific weekend for Ohio Women’s Golf, placing second in a field of 75 at the 2012 Doris Black Falcon Invitational. The senior shot scores of 73 and 76 in the two-day event, ending with a final score of 149. Weaver finished just one stroke behind the leader—Darin Pinnick of Indianapolis University—and paced her Bobcats to a third-place finish, their best team result since the 2010 spring season.
Finishing in second place individually ties the best finish of Weaver’s career and marks the seventh time that she has finished within the top five at a tournament.
Weaver has posted a very impressive GPA of 3.95 during her time at Ohio. She is a Math Preparation for Actuarial Sciences major and is working on a double minor in Psychology and Business.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
