Four Women's Golfers Earn All-American Scholar Honors

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Ohio University women's golfers Lindsay Bergman, Erin Cahill, Colleen Lienesch and Megan Weaver were recognized as All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association on Wednesday evening. In its women's golf history, Ohio has now produced 17 NGCA All-American Scholars who have combined to earn the distinction on 29 occasions. Bergman, Cahill and Lienesch all earned the distinction for the second-consecutive year, while Weaver garnered the honor for the first time. The criteria for the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics, requiring student-athletes to compete in at least 50 percent of her team's rounds and carry a minimum 3.50 grade-point average. Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio), the lone senior on the 2008-09 Bobcat roster, led the team with a career-best 80.63 stroke average. The communications studies major produced two top-10 showings during the season, including one top-five finish. She was the only Ohio player to compete in each of the team's 10 events during the 2008-09 campaign. A sophomore in 2008-09, Cahill (Hilliard, Ohio) wrapped up the season with a tie for eighth place at the Mid-American Conference Championship, notching her second top-10 finish of the season. The accounting major ranked second on the team with an 80.77 scoring average. Lienesch (Centerville, Ohio) saw action in eight tournament as a junior, finishing in the top-20 on two occasions. The communications studies major turned in a career-best 82.39 stroke average for the year. A mathematics major, Weaver (Canton, Ohio) played in six events as a freshman, compiling an 82.81 stroke average. The signature performance of her rookie season came at the Falcon Invitational, where she fired a two-round 157 to earn a share of second place.
