Fall 2012 Schedule
ATHENS, Ohio - Five tournaments and the opportunity to host an annual Mid-American Conference event highlight the fall 2012 Ohio Women's Golf season, the schedule of which was released on Wednesday by Head Coach Kelly Ovington.
Ohio will open the season on Sept. 8 when it heads to Illinois State for the 2012 Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill. A two-week break from competition follows this tournament, with the Green and White next traveling to Yorktown, Ind. for the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State.
The `Cats will then end the month of September by making the trip to State College, Pa. for the three-day Nittany Lion Invitational from Sept. 28-30.
On Oct. 15 and 16, Ohio will host the annual Mid-American Conference Fall Preview Tournament. The Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio will be the site of this year's competition. Following this tournament, the Bobcats will end the fall season at the University of Dayton Fall Invitational on Oct. 22 and 23.
Four of the five tournaments this season will be of the "5 count 4" format, with each team sending out five golfers but only counting the top four scores. The Nittany Lion Invitational will be the exception, as it is drawn up in the "6 count 4" format.
The Bobcats closed the 2011-12 season with a seventh-place finish at the MAC Championships. Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) was named the Mid-American Conference Sportswoman of the Year and Ohio was recognized for strong academic performances, earning five Academic All-MAC honors and six spots on the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar List.
