ATHENS, Ohio – Angela Codian of Ohio Women’s Golf has been named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Currently boasting the second best stroke average in the entire Mid-American Conference (75.88 strokes per round), Angela had a great weekend for the Ohio Women’s Golf Program, tying for 15th place in the field of 103 golfers at the 2012 Nittany Lion Invitational. The freshman carded scores of 73-75-75 to end the tournament with a final tally of 223, a mere seven strokes over par. Codian continues to play beyond her years, leading the Bobcats for the third straight week, this time shooting the best score on her team by 16 strokes.
Throughout the entire tournament, Codian shot seven birdies and 16 pars.
Codian (Massilon, Ohio) has played in three tournaments during her college career, finishing first for Ohio in each one. The freshman has recorded a low round of 73 in NCAA competition and earned her best finish (T3rd) at the 2012 Cardinal Classic on Sept. 23.
The Bobcats will next be in action on Oct. 15 and 16 when they host the 2012 Fall Preview at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
