Women's Golf Prepares For The Preview

Helmsdoerfer posted a 54-hole score of 230 to pace Ohio at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's golf team will travel to Fishers, Ind. to participate in The Preview this coming Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8. Ball State will play host to the annual two-day, 36-hole tournament.

The Preview is set to be played at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club, a par-72 that plays 6,127 yards. The first round will begin Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. in a shotgun format. Second round action will follow at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

A total of 16 teams will compete in the tournament including MAC counterparts Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan as well as regional rival Marshall. The tournament will follow the play-six, count-four format.

The Bobcats will travel the same six players from last weekend's Nittany Lion Invitational. Senior Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) will pace the `Cats after matching season-best scores of 230 at Penn State.

Sophomore Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) will look to build on her 20th place finish from last year's Preview. Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) and junior Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) are also returning from last year's tournament. Rounding out team play for the Bobcats will be sophomore Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio).

Ohio will need a 651 combined-team score to improve on last year's Preview performance. Thru two tournaments, the Bobcats are 75 strokes ahead of last season's pace.
