Kelly Ovington and the Bobcats welcome 14 teams to Longaberger Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Women’s Golf prepares to host its first tournament in many years next week, as the program is set to welcome teams from around the region to Nashport, Ohio, for the 2012 Fall Preview.
A total of 14 teams will be joining the Bobcats at Longaberger Golf Club in central Ohio on Oct. 15 and 16 for the annual tournament. Mid-American Conference foes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan will be joined by golfers from Bucknell, Butler, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit and Youngstown State.
Named the No. 1 public golf course in the state of Ohio from 2002-12 by Golf Week, the Longaberger Golf Club opened in 1999 and was designed by Arthur Hills. The course is 7,243 yards and plays a par of 72.
The teams at the tournament will be invited to participate in a practice round on Sunday, Oct. 14 beginning at 10:50 a.m. The range will open at 6:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 with the tournament officially kicking off at 7:50 a.m. with tee times. Tuesday’s second round will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. There will then be an awards ceremony following the conclusion of play.
Ohio is coming off a 15th-place finish at the 2012 Nittany Lion Invitational in College Park, Pa. The Bobcats saved their best round for last, dropping 14 strokes from their second-round score to end the tournament. Freshman Angela Codian (Massilon, Ohio) led the Green and White for the third straight tournament, carding a three-round score of 223 to end tied for 15th in the field of 103 golfers. For her efforts, Codian was named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
