The team went on to win the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship while Habel coached six different Panthers to All-LEC accolades. Prior to coaching at Plymouth State, Habel served as an assistant coach at Division II Stonehill College in 2004.

Habel graduated from Bridgewater State in 2003 and was a starter on the Bears' lacrosse and basketball teams.
