ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio lacrosse team used its day off from classes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to participate in a community service project. The Bobcats were a part of the "Love Luggage" program on campus that fills hand-decorated suitcases with small gifts and necessities for children in foster and shelter care.

The all-day event took place at the Baker Center on Ohio's campus. The Bobcat lacrosse team performed a variety of tasks, including setting up, painting the suitcases, making cards for each piece of luggage and packing the suitcases.

The suitcases and backpacks were filled with toiletries, socks, baby items, small toys, books, art supplies and food supplies.

The Bobcats begin preparation for the 2006 season with their first pre-season practice on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The season opener is slated for Feb. 19 at Maryland.
