Lacrosse Tabbed Fifth in ALC Preseason Poll

Contact: Jim Stephan

Dana Dobbie has been selected to the American Lacrosse Conference preseason team.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Ohio has been picked to finish fifth in the American Lacrosse Conference this season, according to a preseason vote of the league's coaches.

The Bobcats received 19 points, one ahead of Ohio State and 11 ahead of Davidson. Northwestern finished first with five of seven first-place votes, while Johns Hopkins earned the other two and placed second. Both those schools participated in the NCAA Tournament last year.

Ohio's Dana Dobbie, who earned ALC First Team honors in 2004, was selected to the 2005 Preseason Team. The native of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, made an immediate impact last year despite missing the final five games due to injury. She finished second on the team in both points (48) and goals (30) while leading the Bobcats with 14 assists and 57 draw controls. She set a school record by winning 15 draws at St. Mary's in March.

The American Lacrosse Conference is a lacrosse-only conference and will send its regular season champion to the 2005 NCAA tournament by virtue of an automatic qualifying berth.
