ATHENS -- Third-ranked Northwestern scored 15 of the first 16 goals Saturday, including the first just 19 seconds into the contest enroute to a 16-3 victory over Ohio at Pruitt Field. The game was the American Lacrosse Conference opener for both teams.

Aly Josephs and Lindsey Munday each scored four times for the Wildcats, who improved to 5-0 with the victory. Caitlin Link, Dana Dobbie and Shannon Hadaway tallied single goals for the Bobcats (0-3).

Munday opened the scoring on a pass from Kristen Kjellman just 19 seconds in the contest, then Josephs tallied her first from Kjellman less than two minutes later. The lead reached 5-0 before Ohio was able to get on the board. Link took a pass from Dobbie and converted with 12:33 to play.

However, Northwestern found the net five more times before intermission to make the score 10-1, then extended the run with the first five goals of the second half.

Dobbie cut the margin to 15-2 with an unassisted goal and Hadaway answered the final Wildcat tally with an unassisted goal with three seconds left.

Ohio returns to action Friday when it hosts Virginia Tech at 4 p.m. at Pruitt Field. Admission is free.
