ATHENS -- The Ohio lacrosse squad will conclude its five-game home stand this weekend, welcoming Virginia Tech and No. 6 Johns Hopkins to Peggy Pruitt Field on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

The Bobcats (0-3) are searching for their first victory of the 2005 season. They dropped a 6-5 overtime decision in the season-opener against Duquesne, then were defeated by No. 20 Notre Dame and American Lacrosse Conference foe No. 3 Northwestern.

Ohio and Virginia Tech (1-1) have split the previous two meetings. The Hokies defeated Ohio 14-12 in Blacksburg, Va., last season, but the Bobcats were victorious on their home field in the 2003 campaign with a 12-7 win.

The Hokies, out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, enter Friday’s contest with a road-win against George Mason and a 13-8 loss against St. Bonaventure.

Johns Hopkins (1-1), an ALC member, defeated Ohio last season by a score of 12-4. The Blue Jays defeated Davidson in their home opener this season but dropped an 8-5 decision last weekend at Princeton. Johns Hopkins will face Ohio State on Friday before coming to Athens to meet the Bobcats.

Friday’s game time is slated for a 4 p.m. start, while Sunday’s contest will begin at noon at Peggy Pruitt Field.
