BALTIMORE Dana Dobbie scored a pair of goals for the Ohio lacrosse team but the Bobcats fell behind early and could never catch up in a 12-4 loss to No. 17 Johns Hopkins Friday afternoon at Homewood Field.

The Bobcats fall to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the American Lacrosse Conference while the Blue Jays improved to 4-0, 2-0 with their third win in as many tries against Ohio.

Hopkins opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just 15 seconds into the contest, then added four more unanswered strikes for a 5-0 lead. Ohio would answer late in the half, Dobbie scored an unassisted goal with 27 seconds remaining and Caitlin Link added an unassisted goal with six seconds left to cut the Hopkins lead to 5-2 at the break.

However, the Blue Jays scored the first five goals of the second half, the first of which came just 18 seconds into the period, to pull away.

Lynz Keys scored for the Bobcats with 7:11 to play to make the score 10-3, while Dobbie answered a Blue Jay goal with her second at the 4:05 mark.

Jennifer Cassidy made 10 saves for Ohio.

"Jen had an amazing game," said head coach Kate Brew. "She made crucial saves at crucial points to keep the game close. We knew what they were going to do, but had a hard time controlling their fastbreaks. When we got our shots, it was too little, too late."

The Blue Jays held a 36-23 advantage in shots and a 30-24 edge in ground balls while Ohio won 11 of the 17 draw controls.

The Bobcats continue their road trip Saturday with a matchup at Howard in Washington, D.C.
