ATHENS, Ohio – Sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins took an early lead and never let up Sunday afternoon, defeating the Ohio lacrosse team 14-0 in American Lacrosse Conference play at Peggy Pruitt Field.

The Blue Jays posted seven goals in both halves and the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net despite taking 8 shots—five on goal.

On its first trip to the Ohio zone, the Blue Jays marked an early tally. Sarah Gallion drove down the middle and dished to a waiting Sarah Walsh on the right side and Walsh put it away to give Johns Hopkins a 1-0 lead 1:34 into the contest.

The Blue Jays would score six more times before the break, including another goal for Walsh and a pair for Lauren Schwarzmann and Mary Key.

The second half was more of the same, with Johns Hopkins striking early and often. For the game the Blue Jays featured a pair of four-goal scorers in Key and Kadie Stamper. They won the shot battle 27-8 and recorded more draw controls, 9-7, than the Bobcats. Ohio did land three more ground balls—six more in the second half—than the Blue Jays.

Johns Hopkins goalkeeper Lauren Riddick tallied five saves in the shutout, while Ohio’s Jayme Levy (Reisterstown, Md.) notched six saves.

Dana Dobbie (Guelph, Ontario) paced Ohio with four shots—all on goal—and six draw controls.

With its five-game home stand at an end, Ohio will hit the road for the first time this season on March 17. The Bobcats will travel to face Ohio State in an American Lacrosse Conference contest at 7 p.m.
