ATHENS, Ohio -- Dana Dobbie scored all four of her goals during a decisive 12-0 run stretched around halftime as the Ohio women's lacrosse team easily defeated St. Mary's (Calif.) 16-7 at Pruitt Field Friday afternoon. The Bobcats (3-5) jumped to a 13-1 lead with 20 minutes left in the contest and never looked back.

Dobbie finished the afternoon with four goals and one assist. Frannie Sullivan had four points on a goal and three assists while Kari Fasick, Kristen Gombeski and Kelley Windle each added a pair of goals.

Jackie Spencer led the Gaels (1-7) with four goals.

Gombeski opened the scoring for Ohio with a goal from Sullivan just 2:05 into the contest. After Spencer benefited from a deflection into the Bobcat goal just 31 seconds later, Dobbie started a scoring barrage that featured 12 straight goals for a 13-1 lead midway through the second half. She took a pass from Sullivan at 3:12 and the run was on.

Caitlin Link scored with 24:08 left in the half for a 3-1 lead, then Sullivan tallied her goal for a 4-1 lead at the 20:15 mark. Dobbie and Windle scored 12 seconds apart for a 6-1 advantage, then the duo struck again in the same order 2:15 apart as the Bobcats went up 8-1 with exactly 12 minutes. The half ended with a 9-1 score after Dobbie scored from Link with 2:55 remaining.

Ohio started the second half with four straight goals to finish the run. Molly Wurdack took a pass from Fasick 44 seconds into the period before Fasick scored back-to-back goals. Gombeski put the Bobcats up 13-1 with her second goal with 21:45 to play.

The teams traded goals to make the score 14-2 -- Ohio on Mindy Sewell's first career goal at 19:07. St. Mary's tallied three straight goals, two by Spencer, to close to within 14-5 but Ohio answered 20 seconds later on a strike by Lauren Dansak.

Ohio returns to action next Sunday when it travels to Albany. The next home game is Friday, April 8, against California.
