Notre Dame Continues Hot Play, Defeats Ohio Lacrosse
Athens, Ohio - The Ohio lacrosse team ran into a Notre Dame squad with a lot of momentum on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Irish, fresh off an impressive 20-2 victory over Denver, defeated the Bobcats 18-9 at Pruitt Field.
ND got on the board first less than a minute into the contest and never trailed. The Fighting Irish led 10-3 with less than six minutes to play in the first half, but Ohio countered with a 3-1 run that cut the margin to 11-6 at intermission. Notre Dame tallied seven goals in the second half and held the Bobcats scoreless for the final 13 minutes to preserve the victory.
Sophomore Alyssa Trocher (Ellicott City, Md.) registered four goals and two assists in the defeat. Lindsey Hart (Vineland, Ont.) continued her strong play with two goals and two assists. Freshmen Becky Oxman (Byrn Mawr, Pa.) and Melissa Menna (Downingtown, Pa.) each added a goal and an assist for the Bobcats. Lynz Keys (Whitby, Ont.) scored the only other Ohio goal.
Ohio (1-6) travels to Villanova University on Friday to battle Cal-Berkley at noon. The Bobcats are back home on Sunday to face Howard at 1 p.m.
