ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio women's lacrosse team will play its first home game in more than a month when it hosts Davidson on Friday, March 31. The game is set for a 12 p.m. start at Pruitt Field.
The Bobcats (2-7) ended a six-game road stretch with a loss at Oregon last Saturday. The Bobcats have split their previous two home games this season. Beginning with Friday's game, the Bobcats play five of their final seven games at home.
Freshman Kiersten McLouth (Centreville, Va.) leads the Bobcats in goals (11), assists (5) and points (16). She has scored at least one point in all eight of the games she has played, and registered at least one goal in seven of those games. She netted a season-best four goals in the Bobcat's victory at St. Mary's on March 23. Ohio has not had a freshman lead the team in scoring since Alyssa Trocher in 2000.
Davidson enters the game with a 6-3 record, already matching their highest win total for a season since 2001. Eloise Grose leads the Wildcats' offensive attack wtih 33 points on a team-best 25 goals and eight assists. She is one of six players to have scored at least 13 goals this season. Kiften Stephens and Callie Seymore lead the team with 13 assists each. Leslie Smith has started all nine games in goal, recording an 11.38 goals against average and 87 saves. As a team, the Wildcats average 13.56 goals per game, while allowing 10.33 tallies per contest.
The Bobcats and Wildcats have met every season since 1999 when Ohio's program was reinstated to varsity status. The Bobcats lead the series, 4-3, including four straight victories. The Wildcats were members of the American Lacrosse Conference until this season.
Ohio will take to the road again on April 4 for a game at Virginia Tech. The Bobcats return home on April 9 to face American Lacrosse Conference rival Ohio State at 1 p.m.
