Ohio Lacrosse Continues Hot Streak, Defeats St. Bonnies 16-11
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The Ohio women's lacrosse team used a 13-goal explosion in the first half to defeat St. Bonaventure, 16-11, on Saturday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.
The Bobcats opened the game with four-straight from four different players. Alyssa Trocher (Ellicott City, Md.) started the run with her 31st goal of the season at the 27:07 mark. Lindsey Hart (Whitby, Ont.), Becky Oxman (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and Melissa Menna (Downingtown, Pa.) each added a goal to give Ohio a commanding 4-0 lead with 20:27 left in the first half. After a St. Bonaventure goal made the score 5-3 at the 10:26 mark, Ohio went on a 8-1 run to close out the first half. Trocher was instrumental, adding a goal and four assists in a six-minute span during the run.
In the second half, the Bonnies outscored the Bobcats, 7-3, but did not get closer than five goals. Trocher once again provided a spark with all three Ohio goals after intermission. The Maryland native finished the game with five goals and four assists. She tallied 13 goals and eight assists in two games this weekend.
Lynz Keys (Whitby, Ont.) tallied four goals and Menna registered two goals and three assists in the victory. Ashley Bauer (Shaker Heights) and Hart each added two goals and two assists for Ohio.
The Bonnies fall to 3-5 on the season. Ohio with its fourth straight win improved to 5-6.
