ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio lacrosse team has been named a 2006 Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association for having a team grade-point average of higher than 3.0. In addition, seniors Allison Brennan (Annandale, Va.) and Ashley Weed (Shaker Heights, Ohio) have been named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The Bobcats were one of four teams from the American Lacrosse Conference to make the 42-team list. Ohio's two members of the honor roll tied for the top spot among conference teams.

Both Brennan and Weed were among the 67 Bobcat student-athletes to finish their degrees in 2005-06. Brennan graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and pre-law, while Weed received her diploma in biology and pre-physical therapy.

The lacrosse team's recognition is among a growing list of academic accomplishments by Bobcat student-athletes. All of Ohio's athletic programs posted a combined NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score of 81 percent in 2005, which put Ohio among the top 25 public institutions in the country.
