ATHENS, Ohio - Week Two of the 2012 Ohio Soccer spring season has come and gone. The Bobcats went 1-1 in their two matches, falling to West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday night before handily defeating the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Saturday afternoon.

Ohio has been finding the back of the net well this spring, as the Bobcats have scored six goals in their three full matches, averaging two tallies per contest.

On Thursday night, the Bobcats played two 40-minute halves against West Virginia Wesleyan, falling by a final score of 2-0. The Bobcats outshot the visitors by a 2:1 margin on the evening but were unable to capitalize on their chances. Ohio was made to pay for a few key turnovers, as the WVW Bobcats proved to be efficient with their goal-scoring opportunities. The second goal of the evening came via a penalty.

Saturday was a very strong day for the Bobcats. In two 45-minute halves, Ohio defeated Eastern Kentucky by a final count of 3-1. Despite falling behind early, Ohio showed a lot of character by being able to battle back and earn the victory. Recent transfer Maggie Murnane (Libertyville, Ill.) scored a brace, netting Ohio's first two goals of the day. The junior scored her first goal of the day with around 22 minutes remaining in the match, receiving a pass from Erin Schwenke (Solon, Ohio) and hitting a low, left-footed shot from 22 yards out into the far corner.

The second goal of the day came via a perfectly executed free kick. Jackie Campo (Strongsville, Ohio) played in a nice bending ball right to the top of the six-yard box where Murnane leapt high and met it with her head, sending it over the EKU goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Cathryn Rogers (Etobicoke, Ontario) scored the final goal of the afternoon, receiving a pass from Liz Finley (Mason, Ohio) and Murnane. The senior collected the ball in a bit of space about 12 yards from the goal and after taking one controlling touch, blasted it right past the goalkeeper.

The Bobcats will next be in action on Friday, April 27 when they play at Cincinnati. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
