AKRON, Ohio - The Ohio women's soccer team played its third straight double-overtime game on Thursday night at Akron, but this time the Bobcats prevailed 3-2 on Erika Schmitt's game-winning goal in the 102nd minute.

Ohio (5-10-3, 5-5-1 MAC) started the scoring in the game on Schmitt's long goal goal in the 52nd minute. Schmitt, who leads the team with seven scores this season, was assisted by Rachael Goulding.

The Zips (6-7-6, 1-6-4 MAC) answered with a goal of their own just six minutes later. In the 58th minute, Akron's Jessica Fix fired a shot from 20 yards out that bounced down off the top of the cross bar and into the net.

Akron scored again in the 73rd minute when Jordan Clark redirected Fix's header with a header of her own that slipped past Ohio keeper Jess MacLean.

With the only three minutes and 56 seconds remaining in last MAC regular season game played league-wide, it looked like the Bobcats would suffer their fifth straight defeat, but Amy Lower made sure that did not happen.

Lower took a pass from Schmitt and quickly shot a close range shot into the opposite corner that forced overtime.

Both teams went scoreless in the first overtime period with Ohio taking two shots to Akron's none.

But on the first shot attempt of the second overtime Maggie Rojas-Alford tallied her first assist in the game when the junior forward found Schmitt for the game-winning goal and the junior's second goal in the game.

With the win, the Bobcats earned the sixth seed in the MAC Tournament and a first round match-up at No. 3 Northern Illinois. The league's post-season tourney begins on Sunday with the top four seeds (Ball State, Toledo, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green) playing host in the first-round games.
