Lower Named to All-Ohio Team

ATHENS, Ohio - Add another honor to Amy Lower's resume from the 2008 season, as the West Chester, Ohio, native was named to the Division I All-Ohio Second Team in an announcement by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association recently. One of just seven Mid-American Conference players named to the two teams by the OCSA, Lower joins 21 other players from Division I schools inside the state to receive the honor. She was also one of eight forwards and the only Bobcat to be recognized. Lower, a 2008 First Team All-MAC honoree and Health Services Administration major, finished her junior season with a career-high nine goals, good for second in the conference and the seventh-highest single-season total in school history. Her season total of 19 points overall put her fifth in the conference in points. Currently fifth on the Bobcats' career goals scored list, Lower led Ohio in both shots and shots on goal during the season, while tallying one game-winning goal, a double-overtime winner over Buffalo. She especially enjoyed a strong conclusion to the season, recording six goals in the `Cats' last seven games. In perhaps her best game of the season, Lower tallied a pair of goals on three shots against Northern Illinois. Ohio is currently preparing for a series of games during its spring season. The 2009 campaign officially gets under way Aug. 28, against Ohio State.
