ATHENS, Ohio – With the program’s preseason match just mere days away, the Ohio University women’s soccer team picked up an honor recently as senior midfielder Maggie Murnane was named to the CollegeSportsMadness.com Preseason All-Conference Team.

Murnane (Libertyville, Ill.) earned a spot on the Preseason Mid-American Conference Second Team among fellow midfielders Rachel Chaney (Western Michigan), Kaely Schlosser (Central Michigan), and Maimee Morris (Ball State).

Entering the program as a transfer from the University of Dayton, Murnane made an immediate impact with the Bobcats during the 2012 season. Maggie started all 19 of Ohio’s matches during her first season, scoring two goals and recording two assists in the process. She fired 31 total shots on the year, 12 of which were on target. During Ohio’s match against Youngstown State on Sept. 14, Murnane scored the game-winning goal in the ninth minute.

Ohio opens the 2013 season with an exhibition match at UNC Greensboro on Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. The Bobcats will then play three straight home matches to begin the regular season, hosting Indiana (Aug. 23), Wright State (Aug. 25), and DePaul (Aug. 30).
