ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Athletics will hold its fourth Coffee with Coach this Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Union Street Diner. Ohio Soccer Head Coach Stacy Strauss will be the guest on Thursday. The event, free to the public, will begin at 10 a.m.
The 2012 season is Strauss’ 13th at the helm of the Ohio Women’s Soccer Program. She has guided the Bobcats into becoming perennial contenders in the Mid-American Conference, leading the team to two regular-season conference titles (2001 and 2004), one second-place finish (2002) and four conference final four appearances (2001-04). The Bobcats have qualified for the MAC tournament in each of the last three seasons.
Strauss’ 102-115-21 career coaching record makes her the program’s all-time leader in wins. More impressively, she holds a 67-52-17 MAC record which is among the highest in the conference’s history. Under her tutelage, 23 players have garnered All-MAC honors and eight have been named to the All-MAC Freshman Team, which began in 2003.
The Bobcats are currently 2-3 on the season, are on a two-match winning streak and have not conceded a goal in 225 consecutive minutes. Ohio has two home matches on the schedule this weekend, hosting Niagara on Friday (4 p.m.) and Cleveland State on Sunday (1 p.m.).
