Soccer Travel Blog: Cleveland State

Oct. 2, 2013

ATHENS, Ohio - Learn about what life is like on the road with the Ohio University women's soccer team by following their regular blog posts during away matches.

This week, the Bobcat travel blog continues courtesy of senior Maggie Murnane. She recaps the September trip to Cleveland State in this latest edition.

Hi Bobcat family! Hope you all are enjoying our blogs throughout the season so far. We really appreciate all the support!

Anyways, our trip to Cleveland State was pretty fun. Since we had so many teammates from the Cleveland area, the coaches decided to have family members come to dinner with the team Thursday night at a nice Italian restaurant called Porcelli's. My dad planned to leave Chicago Friday morning, so I had Mrs. Bechtel and Scott Bechtel, Natalie's mom and brother, as my family to sit with that night.

The next morning, some of the team decided to walk over to Lake Erie where we saw the Browns' football stadium, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Boardwalk. Of course, we took several pictures. I love seeing places I haven't seen before when traveling with my team on trips!

Our favorite Rachel Fryan motto was said throughout this photo extravaganza, which was "Don't take my picture!" As she said this, Rachel would be posted up in hilarious model poses. It makes me laugh and sometimes snort every time.

It was a pretty quick trip with the usual pre-game walk through on Cleveland State's turf field followed by yummy Potbelly's to fuel us for the game. Once it was almost game time, the storms were starting to approach. We had a rain delay for a couple minutes but it wasn't too bad and no rain came...yet.

The game went to a draw and suddenly a downpour of rain finally came. Literally, it was like our second shower once we left the locker room! By the time I got out of the locker room, the turf field looked like a giant pool, no joke. Shout out to the best dad ever who waited outside in the pouring rain for me because he wanted to walk me to the bus with his umbrella, what a guy! :)
