ATHENS, Ohio- Toye Famodu’s two-goal weekend that helped lead Ohio Soccer to Mid-American Conference victories at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois this past weekend did not go unnoticed. Famodu was named MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts, claiming Ohio’s first weekly award of the season.

The senior had a fantastic week for the Bobcats, scoring two of Ohio’s four goals over the weekend in a pair of victories that helped them claim the top spot in the MAC East. Trailing 1-0 at Western Michigan in the second half, Famodu scored the equalizing goal in the 70th minute, eventually forcing the game to overtime where the Bobcats were able to earn the victory. Two days later at Northern Illinois, Famodu opened the scoring in the 25th minute to put her side ahead, 1-0, in a game that would ultimately be won, 2-1.

Famodu has scored three goals in 2011, two of which have come in MAC Play. During her career as a Bobcat she has scored a total of seven goals while also adding five assists.

Toledo’s Rachel MacLeod shares the weekly honor with Famodu. The forward also scored two goals during the weekend, helping to lead the Rockets to a spotless 4-0-0 mark in MAC play. Toledo’s goalkeeper—Vicki Traven—earned the Defensive Player of the Week award by posting two shutout victories.

Ohio Soccer will next be in action on Oct. 7 at Toledo. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. EST.
