ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio will be back at home this weekend and the Bobcats will look to continue their push toward the top of the MAC standings as they play host to Northern Illinois (5-5-3, 2-3-1 MAC) and Western Michigan (2-9-2, 0-5-1 MAC).

Northern Illinois is up first for the Bobcats (4-6-3, 4-1-1 MAC) when the Huskies visit Chessa Field at 4 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies, looking to rebound from a 2-0 defeat to Miami last weekend, have struggled to score this season. They have scored the second fewest goals (12) of all MAC teams, with four of those coming from senior Karen Enockson. The Huskies make up for their lack of offensive fire power with one of the best defenses in the league. The team has allowed only 13 goals, good for third fewest in the MAC. The Northern Illinois defense shutout and tied undefeated Ball State last weekend, but faces an Ohio offense that has been on fire of late. The Bobcats have scored two or more goals in four of the last six games.

At 1 p.m. on Sunday, the Bobcats welcome a Western Michigan team that has struggled to get on track this season. The Broncos are in last place in the MAC standings and are still looking for their first conference victory after falling 4-0 to Miami and 2-0 to Ball State this past weekend. Ohio's hot offense may have a field day with a squad that has allowed the most goals (29) in the MAC. Western Michigan freshman Kelly Blenner leads the conference's lowest scoring offense (seven total scores) with two goals.

Last weekend the Bobcats took sole control of third place in the conference standings. They defeated Central Michigan 2-0 and played Eastern Michigan to a 1-1 draw. While the Bobcats played an undefeated weekend, Kent State lost to Bowling Green on Friday and fell behind Ohio, leaving the Bobcats in sole possession of third place in the MAC. The Golden Flashes helped out Ohio again on Sunday by handing previously undefeated Toledo its first conference loss of the season, pulling the Bobcats closer to second place.

The Bobcats, who are 3-2 at home this season, hope to even the all-time series record with Northern Illinois, which currently sits at 5-6-2. Ohio has had more success overall against Western Michigan with a 6-4-2 all-time series record, including an undefeated 4-0-2 record at Chessa Field. Last year Ohio split the season series against these two teams, losing to Northern Illinois 2-0 while defeating Western Michigan by the same score.
